Crimson Desert: Pierce’s Request Quest Walkthrough

Pierce’s Request is a Greymane commission quest in Crimson Desert, available at Howling Hill after completing A Rumor in Ivynook Farm. Pierce wants you to assess the gambling scene at the Hernand tavern – which means sitting down at the Duo card game table and winning at least one match. This walkthrough covers exactly where to find Pierce, how to win a game of Duo at the Hernand Inn, and how to complete the quest to claim your Inventory Expansion +3 reward. If you’ve been struggling with the Duo card game in Crimson Desert, the full rules and action breakdown are included below.

Pierce is camped at Howling Hill near the Quartermaster’s tent. Interact with him and ask about his commission. He’ll explain that he needs someone to assess the skill level of the gamblers playing Duo at the Hernand tavern – and the only way to properly gauge them is to sit down and play yourself.

Head to the Hernand Inn and go up to the top floor, where you’ll find the Duo card table. If you previously completed A Move on the Table, you’ll already know the layout. To complete this objective you need to win at least one game of Duo against the gamblers. The Duo rules, hands, and available actions are summarised below for reference.

Duo is a two-player card game using 20 cards numbered 1 to 10, each available in Yellow and Red. Red cards are key to forming the highest-ranking hands and create the most tactical pressure. Each round, both players are dealt two cards and must decide whether to bet, raise, or fold based on their hand and what they can read from their opponent’s behaviour.

The most reliable approach is to check (pass) when your hand is weak, call when the pot is small and your cards are decent, and raise aggressively only when you hold a pair or the highest-value combination. Watch the dealer carefully every round – if they cheat and you correctly call it out, the cheater’s pot is split among the other players. If you’re wrong, you’re removed from the table and lose your stake, so only accuse when you’re confident.

Available actions each round:
Check (pass without raising), All In (bet all silver), Half Raise (bet half the pot), Double Raise (double the previous raise), Call (match the current bet), Fold (forfeit the round). If the 10-second timer runs out, Call is triggered automatically.

After winning at least one Duo game at the Hernand Inn, return to Pierce at Howling Hill and speak with him to hand in the quest. He’ll accept your report on the gamblers’ skill level and the commission will be marked complete.
