Cast ‘n Chill – Where and How to Catch all Fish

The title may sound silly, but the Idle Mode can be used strategically, especially when dealing with small fish trophy catches. The small fish, in general, have a ridiculously low trophy weight and can take forever to catch. Why don’t you just equip the Phantom Line Rod and put a Bobber or Deep Bobber to it, and go for lunch or a bathroom break? You can actively start Idle Mode in the Game Menu. It could well be that you have the trophy fish in your inventory when returning to the desk.

The three achievements “Above Board”, “Over Achiever”, and “Whoa, Nelly” require you to catch L, XL, and XXL-sized fish without looking under the water surface. To do that, you have to change the game settings at “Camera” from “Auto Tracking” to “Always Above”. They are bugged at the release of the game and need an update.

Not all sizes are in one area. Sometimes you just have to advance and change the region to complete the Journal.

The Bluegill Sunfish has a round shape with a dark green top layer and a bright yellow belly. It swims in Zone 3, at the far end to the right of the Fork.

The Rock Bass is a compact, green fish. It can be found just after the house landmark at the bottom of the lake.

The Shorthead Redhorse is a grey fish with red fins. The medium-sized ones are swimming near the dock, the large ones near the house landmark where the Rock Bass are.

The Northern Pike is a long, darkgreen fish. All sizes can be caught next to the dock at the very deep end of it.

This is the second location of the Bluegill Sunfish. You can also catch it at the Goldenfork River, The Fork. Unlike the Goldenfork River, the Fawnmirror Lake Picnic Point is also home to the Medium-Size Bluegill Sunfish. It can be caught right at the docks. More medium-sized Bluegill Sunfish are near the center of the lake, where the floating log is.

The Lake Trout is a long, yellow, and brown fish. Initially, it was found at the Goldenfork River, The Fork (Demo), but has since then migrated to the Fawnmirror Lake, Picnic Point. The Lake Trout likes the waters in the center of the lake, just by the floating log. To catch the Legendary Catch XXL Lake Trout, buy the Horizon Caster rod at Watcher’s Point, Icewater Sea.

The Lake Whitefish is a grey, big fish that likes to swim close to the surface. The Small and Medium-sized versions can be caught right by the dock, while the Larger Lake Whitefish are swimming more in the center of the lake, close to the surface.

The Mooneye is a white fish that can be caught at the shore to the right of the lake. It requires a Spinnerbait Fluoro to bite. Keep tipping the shopkeeper. Soon, he will have the Phantom Line Rod on offer, which has the Fluoro tag. I had the best results at night.

The Arctic Char is a dark grey fish with a red belly. Both sizes can be found in the deeper areas of the lake, right by the first island from the dock. The trophy took a bit longer to catch, and I had to snooze a couple of times to refill the stock.

The Common Carp is a round, green fish, swimming in the upper layers of the lake. You can catch L-sized Common Carp near the dock. The S- and XL-sized Common Carp are found the furthest away at the right side shore. The first XXL rod, the Grizzly Pole, can be bought at the Grizzly River, but the line won’t be long enough. Buy the Horizon Caster rod at Watcher’s Point, Icewater Sea.

The Round Whitefish is a silver fish with yellow fins that comes in two sizes: small and medium. The small fish swim near the dock. The medium-sized Round Whitefish is to the right side of the lake. There is a deeper point of the lake, where the old boathouse is to the right. The Medium Round Whitefish swim with an XXL Common Carp.

Catching the trophy can be tricky. If you run out of medium-sized Round Whitefish in the deep end where the XXL Common Carp spawns in the morning, travel to another location and return. The area will be refilled with M-sized fish.

The Mountain Whitefish is a white-yellow fish. A group of the S-sized version is swimming between the dock and the first island. Cast a long line with the Topwater lure and slowly reel it in to catch their attention. A group of M-sized Mountain Whitefish are swimming just past the first island after the dock. The L-sized Mountain Whitefish are swimming just past the Grizzly Waterfall.

The Muskie is a dark, long fish. The L and XL-size can be found near the island just past the Grizzly waterfall. The XXL Muskie comes out at night at the very far end to the right. Buy the Horizon Caster rod at Watcher’s Point, Icewater Sea to catch the Legendary Muskie.

The Arctic Grayling is a grey fish. The M-sized version is swimming left of the first Grizzly waterfall. The S-versions can be caught at the far left shore, the L-version is at the dark forest between the two waterfalls. The Arctic Grayling is, in my opinion, the most difficult to catch in the whole game, the legendary catches included, because it likes the Spinnerbait on Fluoro. Most of the fish at the Eagles Nest like the Spinnerbait. To catch the trophy size of the Arctic Grayling, stop your boat at the dark forest and cast a long line. Let the Spinnerbait rest on the bottom of the river until you see an L-version. Then pull it up and play with it in front of the Arctic Grayling. Most of the time, an M-sized version will bite, but if you do that long enough, you will finally succeed.

The Cutshroat Trout has a bright purple belly. You can find the S-size version between the dock and the grizzly waterfall. They are swimming close to the surface. Some L-sized Cutthroat Trouts are swimming near the surface by the first Grizzly waterfall. There are also some S-sized ones there. Just after the first Grizzly waterfall, there are some M-sized fish swimming just below the water surface.

The Longnose Dace is a small, yellow fish. They swim at the dock. There are some more in the area between the dock and the Grizzly waterfall. Catching the 2oz trophy is hard and needs a couple of tries. It is best to use Idle Mode to catch the trophy.

The King Salmon is black and red in appearance. Even though it likes the Glide Bait, this lure is not available for the L sizes. I managed to catch a King Salmon just by the dock with a Spinnerbait, though. The XL size can be caught just below the sea arch landmark. Make sure the lure lands in the deep end. The Legendary Catch is at the Icewater Sea, Safety Cove.

The Lingcod in the sizes L- and XL is swimming at the very far end to the right and by the sea arch formation. They swim at the very bottom. The XXL Legendary Catch Reef Growler can be caught in the morning. It is swimming to the far right of the sea at the bottom. Sometimes it’s hiding and swimming beyond sight. Be patient and jiggle the Deep Jighead around.
