Climb the hill east of Bold Kaji Forge to find an Altar of Reflection.

Howling Cove

At the southern point of the Howling Cove at Ishikari Plain is a tall rock in the water. Climb it to reach the Altar of Reflection at the top.

Sensei Takahashi’s Dojo

From Sensei Takahashi’s Dojo at Ishikari Plain, head west uphill to find this Altar.

Southern Ishikari River

Go to the hill at the southern fork of the Ishikari River, Ishikari Plain. At the top, look for a group of small, yellow-topped statues. Use the grapple point near the largest cluster of statues to drop down to the Altar of Reflection.

Urara Forest Altar

There is an Altar of Reflection in the northern parts of Urara Forest at Ishikari Plain. The entrance to the altar is blocked. Climb the mountain instead and slide down the gravel to the Altar.

White Deer Woodlands

Search north of the White Deer Woodlands at Ishikari Plain. Look for a lantern with a climbable wall behind it and a grapple point that takes you straight to the Altar.

Yokai’s Nest

At Yokai’s Nest, Ishikari Plain, use the grapples and branches to reach the Altar on the island at the northwestern coast.

Nayoro Wilds – 3

Cukpet Hills

South of Husko Kotan in the Nayoro Wilds are the Cukpet Hills. Climb the hills on the left side of the river to reach the Altar of Reflection.

Iwor Mountains

Climb up the mountain west of Husko Kotan in the Nayoro Wilds to get to a cave. Inside the cave, there is a crossing. Head to the left to find the Altar of Reflection.

Kankan Creek

Kankan Creek in the Nayoro Wilds has a waterfall to the east. That’s where the Altar of Reflection is.

Oshima Coast – 8

Forgotten Shrine

Travel to the Forgotten Shrine in the west of Oshima Coast. Ride along the coast from there to find the Altar on top of a hill. The climbable wall is just ahead.

Iwasaki Farmstead

Liberate Iwasaki Farmstead in the Oshima Coast region to get access to the Altar.

Kasuga Village

Liberate Kasuga Village in the east of Oshima Coast to get access to the altar.

Matsumae Castle

There is a freely accessible Altar on the Matsumae Castle’s grounds in the Oshima Coast region.

Miyama Village

Liberate Miyama Village in the north of the Oshima Coast region to get access to this Altar.

Oiso Fishing Village

Liberate the Oiso Fishing Village on Oshima Coast, and the Altar of Reflection becomes accessible.

Saito Artillery Outpost

Liberate the Saito Artillery Outpost east of Matsumae Castle in the Oshima Coast region.

Tokuyama Hills

There is an Altar on the island east of Tokuyama Hills in the Oshima Coast region.

Teshio Ridge – 17

Cape Inari Hideout

To find the Cape Inari Hideout, first go to the Cape Inari Shrine in the far north of Teshio Ridge. To open the shrine, you’ll need to light two lanterns.

First, grab the torch. Squeeze through the gap next to the shrine to find a cave and light the lantern inside. Then, walk uphill past the shrine to find a second cave with another lantern. Light this one, too, and the shrine will open.

Enter and climb up to the top, where you will find more lanterns. The ones with the pillar symbol mean death. Light the one inside the first house, and the one by the cliff. Now you can enter and liberate the hideout to access the Altar of Reflection in the easternmost section of the hideout.

Closed-Off Building Sarobetsu Forest

This Closed-Off Building is in the west of Teshio Ridge, north of the Black Dye House. It is missing one of the two fox statues that open the door. Look around and find the lantern with the arrow symbol to follow the direction. You will fall into a trap with a fox. Interact with it. Then, return to the door and pick up the only statue to place it onto the other pedestal. The door will open, and you can access the Altar.

Closed-Off Building Crimson Forest

There is a Closed-Off Building in the Crimson Forest, west of the Red Crane Inn at Teshio Ridge. There are two sets of lamps with two crouching foxes. Take the torch and light the lamps with the fox that has a raised tail. This will unlock the door to the building.

Closed-Off Building Sentinel Forest

There is also a Closed-Off Building at Sentinel Forest, not far from one of Hana’s farms. Look for a thick bamboo forest and a Nine Tails lantern with the forward arrow.

The building requires a fox statue for the socket in front of it. Follow the path to the left of the house and cut the bamboo bushes on the path to the left. The statue is behind it. Carry it back to the house and place it on the socket.

Closed-Off Building Shipwreck Shoal

You can find another Closed-Off Building at Shipwreck Shoal, located on the eastern coast of Teshio Ridge. The building is across from an abyss. To get across, turn the fox statues so they face each other. This will create a rope you can use to cross over.

To open the building and access the altar, turn the foxes on the building’s side away from each other.

Crossroads Trading Post

Liberate the Crossroads Trading Post in the south of the Teshio Ridge region.

Deserted Village

Liberate the Deserted Village at Teshio Ridge to get access to the Altar of Reflection.

Hunting Camp Hideout

The Hunting Camp Hideout is hidden behind the Sarufutsu Lighthouse in the east of Teshio Ridge. To open the lighthouse door, you first have to turn the statues towards the center fox statue to unlock it. Then put both center fox statues on the sockets, so they face the door.

Liberate the Hunting Camp Hideout to get access to the Altar of Reflection. – The Nine Tails here are all dead, though. Investigate the bodies and liberate the fox in the cage. It will lead you to the nearby cave. Climb it and exit to reach Sanctuary Grove. Look for buildings in the distance and cross over.

Follow the bear cub at the other side to find the mother and a settler to talk to. In the house, look for a deer and follow it to the building that holds the Altar of Reflection. Just interact with the nine tail statue to drop a ladder.

Nakajima Ice Cave Hideout

Head to the Nakajima Ice Cave in the northwest of Teshio Ridge. Move the left fox by the entrance to the left and the right one to the right so they look away from each other.

Enter the cave and grapple up to the beam in the center. From here, you can jump over to the platform and climb up to the top. Turn the Fox statue at the top so it faces the lantern on the other side. You can now cross over using the ropes. Interact with the fox statue at the other end to drop the ladder.

Grapple up to the overhead platform and continue to climb. You can finally exit the cave and defeat the Nine Tails. There is a blizzard going on, though. Return to the cave to warm up if you need to. Once the guards are defeated, look for and turn the foxes so they’re facing each other. Cross over using the rope and climb up to reach the Altar of Reflection.

Red Crane Inn

Climb up the hill southwest of the Red Crane Inn in the Teshio Ridge region to find the Altar at the top.

Sarobetsu Forest

There is an Altar of Reflection site at Sarobetsu Forest, Teshio Ridge, in the snowstorm. It has a firefly symbol, which translates to “back”. Walk around in front of the symbol until you break into a trap below you. That’s where the Altar is.

Sarufutsu River

South of the Sarufutsu River in the Teshio Ridge region is an Altar of Reflection up on a hill. Follow the yellow monk statuettes to the right, following the hillside, to find the access point. Climb up and cross over using a branch.

Shipwreck Shoal

Climb down to the Altar of Reflection at the eastern coast of Teshio Ridge, near Shipwreck Shoal.

Snow Drift Springs Hideout

The Snow Drift Springs are in the southwest of Teshio Ridge, south of the Black Bowl Hot Springs. Here you will find Kitsune’s puzzle statues in an area called Snow Drift Springs Shrine. There is a locked door with the Kitsune’s symbol on it and three groups of lamps with a statue nearby. Light the lamp that looks like the nearby statue.

Pick up the torch near the locked door and light the lamps as follows, with the door behind you:
-> Left: Fox looking up.
-> Right: Sitting Fox
-> Center: Crouching Fox

The door will open a gap, and you can crouch into the cave.

In the first room, you will find a fox statue. Interact with it to open its tail. Exit the cave to the left, into hostile territory – The Snow Drift Springs Hideout. The Altar is on top of a building. Clear the hideout, then light the nearby fox lamps for a path to the Altar:
-> Sitting Fox and Crouching Fox.

Snow’s Blight Hideout

This hideout is in the west, at the Teshio Coast of Teshio Ridge. Look for the Snow’s Blight Shrine to start. The Bounty: Nameless Killer is here.

There are two different puzzles that need to be solved at the Snow’s Blight Shrine. First, light the lanterns where the braziers behind them are lit to get the first fox statue for the socket. On the other wall, turn the foxes so they are positioned like their counterpart at the back wall. Pick up both fox statues and place them on the socket by the gate.

The shrine passage will open, and you can crawl into the cave. Follow the path to the next couple of turnable foxes. Turn them so they look at each other to expand a rope that takes you across the abyss. Turn the next fox to the left to get some more ropes to cross. This path will take you to the hideout. Liberate it to get access to the Altar.

It is through the door at the back of the main building. Defeat the Bounty: Nameless Killer to find the Altar of Reflection nearby.

Soya Port

Liberate the Soya Port in the north of Teshio Ridge to get access to this altar.

Teshio Coast

There is another altar just north of the Snow Drift Springs Hideout in the southwest of Teshio Ridge. It is freely accessible.

Tokachi Range – 7

Bamboo Rock

Just above Bamboo Rock in the southwest of Tokachi Range is a hole that you can climb down into a bear cave with an Altar of Reflection. Alternatively, cut the bamboo at the cave entrance to enter.

Huranui Mill

Liberate Huranui Mill at Tokachi Range to get access to the Altar of Reflection.

Marshland Homestead

Liberate the Marshland Homestead in the Tomamu Marshlands at Tokachi Range to get access to this Altar.

Monument Tree

There is an Altar of Reflection at the Monument Tree, Tokachi Range.

Niikappu River

There is an Altar just by the Niikappu River, near Twin Ponds of Hidaka in the Tokachi Range region. Defeat the ronin sitting in front of it to use it.

Saru Plains

There is a small cave in the eastern parts of the Saru Plains at the Tokachi Range. Enter the cave and squeeze through the only gap you can see to find the Altar.

Tomamu Marshlands

In the southeast of the Tokachi Range are the Tomamu Marshlands. Head to the south of this area to find a barred squeeze-through passage in the mountain wall. Unblock it with your grapple and climb to the top of the hill to find the Altar of Reflection.

Yotei Grasslands – 13

Cave Altar

There is an altar in a cave just north of the Matsumae Crossing Bridge at the Yotei Grasslands. Head to the top of the small hill in the Nupur River, where you can climb down into the cave.

Graveyard Altar

The Graveyard Altar is at The Blue-Flowered Cemetery in the northern parts of the Jade Grove at the Yotei Grasslands. Enter the cemetery and follow the path all the way to the top, where you will also find one of the Bounties: Crow Genzo.

Lost in Reflection

The monk Gessho needs help finding an Altar of Reflection in the woods southeast of the Yotei’s Shadow Inn at the Yotei Grasslands. This is one of the first altars you will come across after starting the game.

Interact with the Altar of Reflection to learn a new technique.

Master Heijiro’s Garden

There is an Altar of Reflection hidden in one of the bamboo groves east of Master Heijiro’s Garden at the Yotei Grasslands, just by the river bend. Melee the bamboo to enter.

Mount Yotei

Once you climb up Mount Yotei to the Mount Yotei Shrine, stay at the summit and climb down into the crater to find the Altar of Reflection there.

Outcrop Homestead

Liberate the Outcrop Homestead at the Yotei Grasslands, and the Altar of Reflection becomes accessible.

Saito Compound

Liberate the Saito Compound at the Yotei Grasslands on the southern coast, and you can bow to this altar.

Saito Recruitment Camp

Liberate the Saito Recruitment Camp at the Yotei Grasslands to get access to this Altar.

Southern Coast – Bamboo Thicket

At the Southern Coast at the Yotei Grasslands, look for a “Bamboo Thicket” guarded by one of Saito’s men.

Cut through the bamboo and defeat Saito’s men on the other side. Then, grapple down at the grapple point and follow the monk statues to the Altar of Reflection.

Stone Spire Hideout

Just south of the Golden Foothills at Yotei Grasslands is the Stone Spire Hideout.

Three Terrors Cave

There is an Altar of Reflection in the same cave as the Three Terrors Bounty hiding place at the Serpent’s Pass in the Yotei Grasslands. Head outside at the top of the cave. Outside, climb the wall up to the top to reach the Altar.

Waterfall Altar

The Waterfall Altar is in the south near the lighthouse at the Yotei Grasslands. Look for yellow paint and small monk statues. There is also a tree with leaves that guides the way behind the waterfall. Enter the water and swim into the cavern.

Wild Clearing Hot Spring

The access point for this Altar of Reflection is the Wild Clearing Hot Spring northwest of the Yotei’s Shadow Inn at the Yotei Grasslands. From the Hot Spring, head up to the mountain, where you can see the Altar towards the southwest. Slide down the gravel path and grapple twice at the end to reach it.
