Ghost of Yotei: Puzzle Box Locations & How to Open Them

Challenging Box

Find this box at Snow’s Blight Hideout‘s Altar of Reflection.

First, move the horizontal bar on the front to the left, then go to the right side of the box, move the horizontal bar to the left, and move the vertical bar down.

Next, move the horizontal bar on the right side of the box back to the right, return to the front, and move the small vertical bar down and the long horizontal bar to the right. Now you can move to the left side of the box, move the horizontal bar to the right, and the vertical bar down to open the box.

Curious Box

Find it next to the Altar of Reflection at Soya Port.

To open it, move the black vertical bar on all four sides of the box down.

Devious Box

South of Snow’s Blight Altar in the northwest corner of Teshio Ridge is a Kitsune Altar with this puzzle box.

To open it, move the top left and right horizontal black bars to the outside, then move the two vertical bars down.

Next, move the bottom left and right horizontal black bars to the outside, then move the two vertical bars down again. You can now open the Devious Box.

Elaborate Box

Find it at the Kitsune Altar in the east of Teshio Ridge, near the Sentinel Forest Camp.

First, start to move the top left horizontal bar to the left. Then you can move the left vertical bar down a little.

Next, move the right vertical bar down all the way, followed by sliding the top left horizontal bar back to the center and the bottom left horizontal bar to the left.

Now, move the left vertical bar down another small bit. Slide the bottom left horizontal bar back to the center and the top left horizontal bar to the left. Now you can slide the left vertical bar all the way down and open the box.

Epic Box

Find it at the Kitsune Altar south of Soya Port, at the base of a hill in the far north of Teshio Ridge.

Start by going to the back of the box. Move both vertical bars towards the outside, then move the left horizontal bar to the left. Turn the box to where that horizontal bar left a gap on the side. When you look at it from the front of the box, you should now be on the left side of the box. Here, move the horizontal bar to the left, away from the front panel.

Next, return to the front and move the left horizontal bar to the left, so you can move the vertical bar down a little.

Return to the left side of the box and move the horizontal bar back to the center. Then return to the back of the box and move the horizontal bar to the right. You can then go to the right side of the box and move the horizontal bar to the right side, away from the front panel.

Return to the front, move the right horizontal bar to the right, and the vertical bar all the way down. You can now open the box.

Find it at the Kitsune Altar in the east of Teshio Ridge, near the Sentinel Forest Camp.

To open it, move the black horizontal bar to the right, then the main plate down.

Next, move the black horizontal bar to the left, then move the main plate down again. You can now open the box.

Interesting Box

This puzzle box is on the floor near the Altar of Reflection at the Crossroads Trading Post in Teshiro Ridge

To open it, first move the black horizontal bar to the left.
Then, move the whole plate down.
Now you can move the top plate and open the box.

Intricate Box

Find it next to the Altar of Reflection at Cape Inari Hideout in the north of Teshio Ridge.

To open it, move the top left horizontal black bar to the left, then the left vertical black bar down.

Then move the bottom right horizontal black bar to the right, and the right vertical bar down.

Manageable Box

This puzzle box is on the floor near the Altar of Reflection at the Deserted Village.

To open the box, slide the horizontal black bar to the left and push the main plate down. Repeat this by sliding the black bar further to the left and pushing the main plate down again. Continue this process until the main plate can no longer move down. Then, slide the black bar to the right, push the main plate down, and slide the black bar all the way to the right. Finally, push the main plate down one last time to open the box.

This puzzle box is on the floor near the Altar of Reflection at the Snow Drift Springs Hideout.

To open it, move the two black vertical bars down.

Perplexing Box

This puzzle box is on the floor near the Altar of Reflection at the Snow Drift Springs Hideout.

To open it, move the two black vertical bars down.

This puzzle box is on the floor near the Altar of Reflection at the Nakajima Ice Cave Hideout.

From the starting position, move to the left and right sides of the box, and do this on the left and right sides:
-> Move the far end vertical black bar to the back, then move the vertical bar down.

Return to the front, slide the left horizontal black bar to the left, the right horizontal black bar to the right and the vertical bar down. You can now open the box.

Surprising Box

This puzzle box is on the Kitsune Altar at the crossroads of Sarobetsu Forest, in the west of Teshio Ridge.

First, move the front plate down and move the horizontal black bar to the right.

Next, move the front plate up. Now you can slide the black horizontal bar further to the right. This means you can now slide the main front plate all the way down to open the box.
